John Lewis and Vodafone are working together to boost the shops mobile strategy and sell mobile contracts.

The retail firm will offer 25 SIM free mobile handsets under its ‘Never Knowingly Undersold’ price promise, to assure that customers get the best value.

Included in the range of mobile handsets will be the Samsung S6 Edge, with Apple iPhones added to the range online and in Oxford Street from early July. All mobile handsets will come with a 2-year guarantee.

Johnathan Marsh, EHT Buying Director, John Lewis, said: "We’ve got a very strong technology business and being able to offer customers mobile phones is an important part of our connected home strategy.

"We know from our website traffic and searches that customers are actively looking for mobiles from us, but it’s important we go into this market in a John Lewis way."

The second element of the partnership will see John Lewis offer smartphone contracts in Cheadle and from the autumn, in Oxford Street. This means that customers will be able to browse a dedicated technology department that will be jointly run by the two companies.

Any customers that sign up to a contract will also receive a three month Data Test Drive from Vodafone, which gives unlimited data for the first three months of the contract.
