Huawei’s announced that it has successfully conducted industries first Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) based Voice over LTE (VoLTE) roaming call between Europe and Asia using Huawei’s solutions.
The test was conducted in collaboration with China Mobile networks and KPN Netherlands, and China Mobile utilised IBASIS as a tandem office.
The call was a test to commercialise the use of international VoLTE roaming.
High- fidelity voice and video capabilities were also tested during the call which was the foundation for long distance communication.
Huawei Core Network vice president Long Jiping said: "Huawei is committed to promoting commercial VoLTE deployment globally.
"We feel honored to cooperate with KPN and China Mobile to complete this call. As 4G evolves Huawei will continue to work with both operators to stimulate a smooth network evolution from 3G. This will bring higher quality service experience to their users."
