Fujitsu has announced the addition of a new feature, EraseDisk functionality in selected ESPRIMO PCs, LIFEBOOK notebooks and CELSIUS workstations.

The company noted that its new technology will enable companies to permanently delete data on hard disk drives without the addition of external software or needing to boot the operating system.

Fujitsu’s EraseDisk functionality offers companies with the capability to adhere to strict standards in terms of compliance and require to recycle or dispose off old PCs.

Fujitsu’s EraseDisk is compliant with the Directive of the European Parliament and the Council on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), where it is possible to do a normal disk erasment before the PCs are being delivered to new owners.

With EraseDisk, companies can confirm that all data on the PCs and workstations has been permanently deleted before the PCs are shipped to new owners.

Fujitsu said that its new tool, EraseDisk, eliminates the need for third-party service companies, to permanently remove data from old PCs, which is often costly and time consuming for companies.

Further, organisations can carry out disk erasment in one easy step after going through confirmation steps without the need for complicated procedures, while companies may choose whether the user or administrator should perform data deletion.

The EraseDisk function can also be protected if only the administrator has to perform a normal disk erasment and delivers a verification report for proof of data deletion in case of audits, where deletion reports can be saved on a USB device to protect companies against data fraud.
