FIFA has asked electronic performance and tracking system (EPTS) manufacturers to showcase their technologies in a quest to find a standard that could see football players with wearables.
The presentations by the manufacturers will be made to the organisation in a joint meeting with the International Football Association Board (IFAB) on November 16.
The two bodies said they will evaluate the technologies on quality and benefits to players.
In February, the IFAB approved in Belfast the use of wearable EPTSs, setting two legal frameworks; firstly EPTSs cannot be used during a real time matches until it has been proven to have preventative medical benefits, and EPTSs must be proven to not pose any danger to players.
Teams like STATsports and Catapult Sports already use this technology to improve their players’ performance.
