Social networking site Facebook has started a new movie streaming servive for users in the UK in association with leading movie production companies.
Facebook is will charge around £1.80 per movie, according to The Daily Mail.
The company has signed a a deal with studio Miramax and the Miramax eXperience went live this week, offering 20 films to users in the US and the UK.
France and Germany are the next markets for the service, says the report.
The service offeres users to watcha movie using the Facebook credit system.
Once purchased, the user must view the movie within 30 days, and once the user starts watching the movie, there is a 48-hour window to finish it.
Users can discuss the movie with friends on the service.
"We are big believers in Facebook and what it could mean for the future of the content business," Miramax said in a blog.
"Our ultimate goal is to give consumers the opportunity to buy films and store them in their own cloud-based digital locker to then access the content anywhere they want, across all devices."
‘Yes, that’s right — any PC, smartphone, tablet or TV, whether at home, on the go, on vacation, etc,’ said studio.
Warner Bros, Paramount and Universal also have signed similar agreements with Facebook.
A Facebook spokesman said, "Facebook Platform and Facebook Credits are open to all developers, and we’re intrigued and enthusiastic about companies like Miramax building social experiences that help people connect through entertainment content."
