Dell and VMware have unveiled the Dell Active System 800 with VMware Horizon View 5.2, a pre-integrated system designed for VMware-based virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) workloads.

Dell Active System 800 with VMware Horizon View 5.2 claimed to help customers improve productivity, increase operational efficiency and optimise system management.

Dell DVS Enterprise Active System 800 with VMware Horizon View 5.2 integrates Dell server, storage, networking, thin clients and infrastructure management software into a pre-integrated system to offer virtualised resources for virtual desktops and will be combined with the Dell Active System Manager 7.0.

Dell said it can streamline administration and improve performance of virtual environments, increase user productivity, and reduce the costs of running virtual workloads as well as improve flexibility of desktop virtualisation deployment.

The system will be used by Dell for its Desktop Virtualization Solutions (DVS) portfolio to allow organisations to deploy and provision VDI workloads.

In addition, the system consists of a consulting suite along with deployment and support services that can be used to simplify integration and check the operation of the system after installing.

Dell cloud client computing channels executive director, Maryam Alexandrian, said that both the companies have intensified their strategic partnership for end-to-end computing.

"Together we are deepening our engagement with our channel partners, accelerating our joint engineering and solution collaboration, and investing in go-to-market initiatives to address opportunities in the mid-market," Alexandrian said.
