A website with links to a Samsung insider, Sammobile, has revealed further details about the Samsung Galaxy S5 fingerprint sensor less than a week ahead of the new flagship’s launch.

Opposing previous rumours that the fingerprint sensor would in fact be the entire screen of the S5, new leaks have suggested that it will be a physical button where the S5’s home button is, much like previous devices and the iPhone 5S.

"The sensor itself works in a swipe manner, which means that you would need to swipe the entire pad of your finger, from base to tip, across the home key to register your fingerprint properly," said Sammobile.

"Also, you would need to keep your finger flat against the home key and swipe at a moderate speed or else it won’t recognise your fingerprint. The fingerprint sensor is sensitive to moisture, as well. So, don’t try to use it with wet fingers because it will, literally, give you an error and tell you to dry your fingers first."

The website also reported that you will be able to register up to eight fingers with the device, with each finger being able to launch a different app or task, but at least one finger will be used to unlock the device.

A further exciting feature is that, according to Sammobile, the S5 will display a real-time image of your fingerprint on the screen as you swipe your finger over the scanner.
