Business service management software house BMC Software Inc grew revenue by 8% in its last fiscal year, claiming the numbers rate as a record for the company in terms of its full year performance, total bookings, and non-GAAP operating income.

For the full year the company posted total revenue of $1.87 billion and a non-GAAP operating income of $612 million, while total bookings for the year grew by 6%.

Cash flow from operations was $580 million in the full year, which meant the company ending fiscal 2009 with approximately $1.2 billion in cash and investments.

Profits missed analyst projections for the fourth quarter ended March 31, however, reaching $83 million against $97 million for the same period a year ago. Revenue rose 3% to $479 million, but that missed the $487 million average forecast of Wall Street analysts.

“Despite the challenges, fiscal 2009 was a year of great progress,” said Bob Beauchamp, BMC’s CEO, who noted BMC’s Business Service Management platform saw “unprecedented adoption” during the year.

For fiscal 2010, the Company expects revenue growth in the low single digits.
