ATTO Technology has announced that its Celerity 8Gb and 4Gb Fibre Channel Host Adapters have been qualified for use with the new HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Arrays (EVA) 6400 and 8400 as an enterprise storage system for the Mac market.

The new offering is designed to keep content available for multiple users in real time.

Bob Wilson, vice president of storage platforms group at HP, said: Organisations need reliable storage connectivity when using HP EVAs in a Mac OS environment. The ATTO and HP solution provides customers with storage that delivers uninterrupted access in a heterogeneous SAN environment.

A custom driver, developed by ATTO for use with Celerity host adapters, allows the Apple OS connections to the EVA, ensuring bandwidth to each controller. The company claims that the new offering also supports the increasing video applications’ demands and is scalable across multiple workstations in a shared Fibre Channel SAN.

The combination of ATTO’s Fibre Channel host adapters and the HP EVA reportedly offers a video production application that is capable of minimising down-time. As such, video production houses that use various tools, running on different operating systems, are said to be allowed to collaborate workflows and connect to the HP EVA in a SAN environment.
