The Insolvency Service, an agency of UK government’s Department of Business Innovation and Skills has awarded a $25.7m contract to the IT services company Atos to implement company’s secure cloud service.
Under the infrastructure as service contract, which was awarded under the Cabinet Office’s Desktop 21 framework agreement, it will offer savings over five years.
Atos will provide the thin client desktop and application hosting services through its Secure Cloud Service.
The new infrastructure service is expected to provide a flexible service for 2000 users at The Insolvency Service.
Atos Secure Cloud Service will continue the use of low power devices such as thin clients in line with Cabinet Office Green Strategy.
In addition, the service is also expected to improve the delivery of sustainable print services, enabling users to print only what they need where they need in a reliable manner.
Atos Central Government vice president Christopher Bingham said the company has been selected to provide new service using its new Secure Cloud Container service which enables them to offer a high quality service while offering value for money for the UK taxpayer.
"Furthermore, leveraging the good work done by the Government Procurement Service in creating the Desktop 21 Framework makes this win all the more rewarding as we support the exploitation of government frameworks," Bingham said.
