Aruba Networks has introduced Virtual Branch Networking (VBN) 2.0 offering to bring business-critical IT services to small branch and home offices.
The company claims that VBN 2.0 takes branch office rightsizing to the next level by migrating network services into the cloud. The new service includes Application Acceleration Service (AAS) that can accelerate the performance of applications in the branch office by 20x, without requiring any new hardware or software in the branch.
According to Aruba, the new offering includes a subscription-based file caching service that boosts application response times in a branch office by leveraging a cloud-based CDN to serve files locally from a nearby data centre; and Content Security Service (CSS) that provides anti-virus/anti-spam protection, real-time content filtering and data leakage prevention without the need for any new branch office hardware or software.
As part of the VBN 2.0, the company is also introducing a virtual intranet access client that provides mobile workers with Windows-based laptops, netbooks, and PCs with secure access to the corporate network without separate, dedicated VPN infrastructure. It simplifies access to corporate resources by sharing the same data centre controllers as RAPs.
Hitesh Sheth, chief operating officer of Aruba, said: Branch routers as we’ve known them are going to become obsolete. Enterprises today have an increasingly distributed and mobile workforce that needs reliable and secure access to data and applications wherever they work or roam.
