Twitch, a live video streaming platform owned by Amazon, will acquire Curse, a multimedia and technology company focused on generating content and products for PC gamers.
With this acquisition, Twitch is expecting that its customer base will expand and benefit from improved connectivity.
Curse is popular among gamers for World of Warcraft, Minecraft, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, League of Legends, Pokemon, Diablo III, Hearthstone and all the GamePedia wikis. It offers tools for gamers which enable them have instant messaging, voice chat, an in-game overlay.
Curse started in 2006 by Hubert Thieblot, who is also the present CEO of the company. Curse was created to offer gamers a collection of add-ons for World of Warcraft. The website quickly became popular and the new business was launched.
Curse received funding of $11m (£8.45m) in 2009, which propelled the small business to become a top gaming information website.
At present Curse offers gaming news to more than 30 million visitors monthly through its desktop client and social media channels, andvideo channels.
It has about 141 employees in six offices spread across the globe, including in the UK, Germany and Australia.

“This acquisition will help provide gamers with the tools and resources they need to achieve the ultimate gaming experience, a mission shared by both Twitch and Curse. Together Curse and Twitch will help gamers connect, interact, and share information with one another.”
Amazon acquired Twitch two years ago for about $1bn.
