US based social information technology (IT) management software developer Spiceworks has launched added new cloud service discovery features that enable users to detect the cloud services running on their networks.

The new capabilities are part of Spiceworks 6.0, which provides small and mid-sized businesses with a professional social network integrated with free IT management software.

The new cloud service discovery features help IT professionals improve network security and aggregate cloud licenses in order to acquire enhanced volume discounts, said the company.

IT professionals can now automatically scan their networks to see exactly which cloud services are in use and by whom, providing an extra layer of control over sensitive resources.

Spiceworks said the new cloud service discovery features in Spiceworks 6.0 can detect more than 40 popular cloud services.

HPS Group IT manager Andy Phelps said knowing which cloud services are running on its network is essential to maintaining security and helping save money.

"The new free cloud service discovery features offered by Spiceworks make it simple for me to monitor cloud services usage and to find out more about the various offerings available for my business," said Phelps.
