Lockheed Martin expands cloud computing services offering in UK

Under G-Cloud 2 framework agreement, Lockheed Martin will offer computing and storage, e-mail and collaboration, cloud strategy and integration

Lockheed Martin UK has expanded its cloud computing services offering for UK government to provide with a wide range of services that includes infrastructure, software and specialist cloud capabilities.

The company has been recently selected to provide G-Cloud 2 IT support, under which Lockheed Martin will now offer support such as computing and storage, e-mail and collaboration, cloud strategy and integration.

In addition, the G-Cloud 2 framework agreement, which is known as CloudStore, will also offer cloud security, mission centric activities, green IT and energy optimisation, cloud brokering, virtualisation consulting, assessment for Oracle virtualisation and virtual desktop as a service assessment.

Lockheed Martin will support G-Cloud 2 through its Solutions as a Service (SolaS) secure cloud delivery innovation.

This mission-focused approach to secure cloud computing is claimed to deliver private, community and hybrid applications for different customers.

By incorporating G-Cloud 2 framework agreement, Lockheed Martin will strengthen the corporation’s IT service activities across the broader UK public sector.

Lockheed Martin IT & Security Solutions organisation vice president Vicki Schmanske said the company’s selection for the G-Cloud 2 programme reinforces will help its cloud application meets the expanded needs outlined by the UK government.
