HP introduces new mt40 Mobile Thin Client

The new thin client will help users to secure sensitive files by saving his or her work to the server

By CBR Staff Writer

HP has introduced its mt40 Mobile Thin Client which claimed to offer PC-like performance with the security while giving mobile workers easy, secure access to their applications in the cloud.

The new mobile thin client is optimised for telecommuters and on-campus mobile workers who need to connect securely to a network to access files.

HP said the new mt40 mobile thin client will help the users to secure sensitive files by saving their work to the server withou leaving anything on the device.

The new mobile thin client is optimised for enterprises that have deployed virtualisation applications from the major independent software vendors (ISVs) for their desktop virtualisation deployments.

It is also suitable for organisations that are considering moving to virtual desktops for their more mobile employees.

HP mt40 Mobile Thin Client features a 14-inch diagonal high-definition (HD) antiglare display, second-generation Intel Celeron B840 dual core processor and does not include any hard drive or moving parts.

The HP Velocity software improves the quality of the connection ensuring top network performance when using applications which require more bandwidth.

In addition, the new product will come with a choice of lightweight or extended battery and a bottom-case drain that protect the device against accidental minor spills on the keyboard.

HP has also introduced the new version of its thin client management tool, HP Device Manager 4.5, which will come preinstalled on the HP mt40 and future thin clients.

The new tool can be used by IT to remotely view, configure and manage HP thin clients and provides functions via a standard Windows-like interface.

It also enables wireless imaging, allowing updates over the same wireless connection that the remote desktop infrastructure uses, enabling all HP mt40 devices to be accessed and imaged remotely.

HP Device Manager 4.5 includes a new graphical user interface (GUI) console that displays all devices in sortable columns and includes an Image Preload feature that allows wireless imaging

Release 4.5 provides enhanced device load times within the console, stores new images locally on thin clients for future updates, manages the full life cycle of HP thin clients and offers support for HP Service Packs.
