Fabric networking applications provider Brocade has partnered with the enterprise OpenStack company Piston Cloud to help their customers manage Brocade VCS fabric-based network infrastructure using Piston Enterprise OpenStack software.
The two companies have collaborated to deliver a flexible, resilient and scalable application that address the private cloud infrastructures demand.
Under the partnership, Brocade will deliver pre-tested and Piston Cloud certified, OpenStack-based applications for private cloud, enabling easy deployment for customers.
Brocade VCS Fabric technology is claimed to transform OpenStack scalability by providing efficient service-level abstractions, powered by distributed fabric intelligence.
It offloads the orchestration platform from managing individual network elements claiming to result in simplified operations of large-scale, complex infrastructures.
Piston Enterprise OpenStack is software that delivers a cloud management platform that comprises of core OpenStack services and enables enterprise IT professionals deliver resources.
The software automatically detects new hardware and installs itself onto each server, allowing dynamic allocation of compute, storage and networking resources across all server nodes in the cluster to optimise performance.
Brocade, Piston Cloud’s new joint development can deploy private Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud environments, allocate compute, storage and networking services and maximise use of the entire network while improving resilience with a self-healing fabric design.
In addition, the joint application also offloads the orchestration of individual network elements from the cloud management platform to achieve fabric-level, large-scale, yet less-complex deployments.
Brocade Product Management director Ken Ross, "This partnership with Piston Cloud will benefit organizations that are transitioning to private clouds by minimizing integration effort and risk."
