Gramovox

Technology is all about looking forward and embracing the ‘new’. However, some companies are seeking inspiration in the old, and finding the link between nostalgia and innovation.

Record players have always been the staple feature of a music lover’s home, with many contesting that the sound of crackling vinyl can’t be beat by mp3s.

But now the Gramovox is set to challenge the sound and music formats that we are used to. The vintage inspired device is modelled on a 1920’s Magnavox R3 horn speaker and has been described as the world’s first Bluetooth gramophone.

According to the Kickstarter page, the sound is not the standard quality of today’s speakers, but instead has "an organically mid-range, vintage sound".

It has a 30 foot range for Bluetooth and a 15 hour battery life, and will retail at $349. It has already surpassed its goal on its Kickstarter page, so expect to see it pop up in the homes of people who are adopting new technologies whilst still clinging onto the past.
