Apple unveils its iPad Air and new iPad mini

They are faster, thinner and lighter. So what's your verdict on the new tablets?

By Cbr Rolling Blog

Apple has unveiled its latest offerings, the iPad Air and the new iPad mini.

The iPad mini boasts a high definition retina display and the iPad Air is rumoured to be the lightest full-size tablet on the market weighing in at only one pound.

The iPad Air looks sleek and streamlined, perfect for on the go, without weighing down your bag or feeling too bulky.

In terms of physical features, it doesn’t look especially different from previous iPad models, except that it is thinner. To some, this has been seen as keeping it classic and premium by not changing the standard iPad style. Others, however, feel that since Steve Jobs left Apple, innovation and creativity left too. The new iPhones were equally similar in their aesthetics to older models, except for colour changes and a different button on the 5S. Depending on your opinion of Apple’s current models, this can be a standstill in progression, or a way of establishing a timeless look.

Many breathed a sigh of relief to see the iPad Air sans fingerprint scanner, which was seen as more of a gimmick and waste of time on the iPhone 5S. The iPad Air instead focuses on its lightness, speed and app capabilities.

Impressively, the iPad Air is meant to be eight times faster than the original iPad launched in 2010. Although it is a full-size tablet, its lightweight feature allows users to hold it easily in one hand, free from strain.

There are many cheaper tablets on the market, but the iPad will always be a standout and success. What do you think about the new releases? Will you be saving up for an iPad Air or iPad mini for Christmas? Or will you be going for a more affordable option? Let us know in the comments below.
