Tired and need an extra hand at work? Well, a one-armed orange robot called UBR-1 has been unveiled that could be the next big device to ease workload for businesses.

Priced at just $35,000 (£21,000), the robot is three foot two inches tall and runs on the Robot Operating System (ROS) – an open source platform that allows developers to create their own applications for machines.

Unbounded Robotics, the startup behind the robot, said factories, care homes or warehouses looking to automate logging, stocking or other tasks could avail of the device.

The robot comes with MoveIT among a host of other apps, allowing users to triall and direct its movement before making it happen in real-time.

"The one-armed robot is designed for human-scale tasks and comes pre-installed with Ubuntu Linux LTS and ROS, along with applications such as MoveIt! navigation, calibration, and joystick teleoperation. The robot offers mobility, dexterity, manipulation, and navigation in a human-scale, ADA-compliant model," the company said in a blog post.
