A new invention by FlyKly Bikes looks set to change how people commute and get around. Named the Smart Wheel, the motorised bike wheel can fit on almost any regular push bike, turning it into an electric bike.
The new invention looks set to change the way people commute and use their bikes. For journeys, routes and terrains that were once too long or steep, they could now be easily accessible using their regular bike, with the addition of the Smart Wheel. It can fix onto almost any regular bike’s back tyre and can reach speeds of up to 20 mph for as far as 30 miles on one full charge. When you are cruising downhill, the wheel recharges itself.
The gadget began its journey to our garages on Kickstarter, with a goal of raising $100,000. The project has exceeded expectations and has currently raised over $450,000.
Electric bikes are often expensive and an extra purchase that seems frivolous, as you can pick up a regular push bike at extremely reasonable prices, both second hand and brand new.
The Smart Wheel can also be locked remotely using an app on your smartphone. Also, if the bike starts to move when your smartphone is not near it, the app will alert the user of a possible attempted theft.
This is definitely bringing commuting one step into the future, making daily routes easier and more comfortable. And with such high demand, we won’t be surprised if they become the alternative to pricey electric bikes.
