It’s funny how so many people in Britain become die-hard tennis fans for a couple of weeks every year when the Wimbledon tournament takes place.

Personally, I love a bit of Wimbledon, especially now we have a decent British player to cheer on. And I am clearly not alone.

This week, Facebook’s most talked about topics in the UK this year were revealed, with Wimbledon champion Andy Murray the main focus of chatter.

A couple of other sporting events also made the top 10 – The Champion’s League Final between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson’s retirement, and England retaining the Ashes.

In contrast, worldwide it was Pope Francis who was talked about more than anything else. The second most talked about topic was ‘election’ due to high-profile national polls in India, Kenya, Iran and Italy. Of course, Miley Cyrus also made it onto the list!
