Multimedia modules and OEM Systems manufacturer Z3 Technology has introduced a new Rapid Product Design System, Z3-DM8168-VI-RPS, a Video Infrastructure offering that works in applications such as broadcast video encoding and decoding, real-time transcoding at 1080p60, security and surveillance, video conferencing and industrial video processing.

The Z3-DM8168-VI-RPS system consists of both hardware and software. The hardware includes one Z3-DM8168-MOD-24 system on module card and a video infrastructure application board, the Z3-DM8168-APP-32 and the bundled software includes all components needed by the users to develop their own advanced multimedia, graphics and DSP applications. The software provided includes pre-loaded encoder and decoder Z3 applications, Linux, EZSDK and OpenMAX-IL framework.

Z3-DM8168-MOD-24 is a compact OEM module, supporting H.264 codec at up to two channels of 1080p at 60 frames per second (fps) encode and stream, decode from stream or store in applications such as real time transcoding, broadcast video encoding and decoding and high-definition embedded video sub-systems.

In addition, Z3-DM8168-MOD-24 features a expansion interface comprised of five high-density connectors providing access to the majority of interface signals available from the DaVinci DM8168 video processor from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI).

Z3-DM8168-APP-32 is included with the Z3-DM8168-VI-RPS system and the application board leverages the I/O expansion capability of the Z3-DM8168-MOD-24 to implement additional functions not present in the base module.

Z3 Technology CEO Aaron Caldwell said the new Z3-DM8168-VI-RPS provides an out-of-the-box video infrastructure system that a customer can immediately use for broadcast, security and industrial applications.

"The versatility and flexibility of the design enables OEMS and ODMS to quickly integrate the latest DaVinci technology, thereby significantly reducing development expenses and product time to market," said Caldwell.
