The Irvine, California-based WangDAT subsidiary of Rexon Inc has introduced a new DX Series DDS-2 line of Digital Audio Tape drives that deliver twice the capacity and performance of previous generation DDS format drives; the DX Series includes the 4Gb Model 3300DX and 8Gb Model 3400DX data compression version, which can store up to 16Gb with highly compressible data; the drives also double the data transfer rate to 366K-bytes per second, and between 732Kbps and 1.5Mbps for the Model 3400DX using its onboard DDS-2 DCLZ hardware data compression feature; the retail price for the 4Gb 3300DX is $1,465, and the 8Gb to 16Gb 3400DX costs $1,660; OEM pricing is available on volume orders and they ship next quarter.
