Viasoft Inc has launched a comprehensive year 2000 suite for the desktop and client/server market. The Phoenix-based company bills its OnMark 2000 software product family as a way to address every phase of Y2K conversion for the distributed computing environment. The suite consists of four separate products – OnMark 2000 Survey, which automates Y2K hardware and software inventory; OM2000 Assess, which conducts risk assessment of hardware and software and determines the severity level of systems at risk and for fixing the hardware BIOS; OM Workbenches, which analyze, plan and remediate problems in client/server applications; and VIA/AutoTest which delivers functional equivalent testing of the changed applications before and after they’re placed back into production. The OnMark software can be customized to search for specific lines of code, create custom queries or generate special reports as defined by the user. Looking beyond Y2K, Viasoft says the new software can also be customized to address issues such as European currency conversion and area code expansion, and can be integrated with its Rochade repository. It is continuing to explore additional uses for the technology. OnMark 2000 products are available now. OM Survey and Access start at $60 and $95 per PC, respectively. The Workbench product for Excel starts at $3,000 per license, while the C/C++, PowerBuilder, Visual Basic and UNIX shell script workbenches start at $5,000. VIA/AutoTest is priced on a per-seat basis – with a five seat minimum – and starts at $44,500.
