Amongst its other activities in Tokyo, Japan last month, Unix International Inc took the time to announce the addition of 23 members, bringing total membership up to 74. Notable amongst the new members were hardware manufacturers such as Acer, Dell Computer, Encore, Integrated Solutions, MIPS, Sequent, Sequoia, Silicon Graphics and Tandem; end-user organisations such as Citybank, the First Austrian Savings Bank, the German Unix User Group, Nippon Steel, Southwestern States Bankcard Association and the Supreme Command of the Swedish Defence Force; and more representation from the Asia Pacific regions, with participation from ASCII, C Itoh Techno Science, Nippon Unisys and Tata Consultancy Services. Other new members are AVCOM, CETIA (a division of Thomson Inc), Cambridge Tech.cw 8 nology Group and the Electronics Research and Services Organisation. Around 20% of Unix International members come from the Asia-Pacific Region, and 10% are end users, according to the organisation.
