Unix International Asia Pacific announced its 1992 Roadmap for System V in Tokyo earlier this month, through its representative Yumio Imamura, with assistance from Dr James Clark, president of Unix System Laboratories Inc in Tokyo. Imamura-san told Unigram that with the Roadmap announcement, Japanese hardware and software vendors would now understand the process of turning the Atlas framework into products through the release of reference products by Unix Labs. Comments emanating from some technical people here have indicated an impatience with the lack of specific detail in the outlines of concepts such as UI-Atlas probably a cultural difference. Unix International welcomes work by any company to build interfaces onto System V.4, Imamura-san said. Unix International has a total of 81 member companies in the region, of which 60 are in Japan, 13 full and five supporting members.
