These things usually turn out to be a heavily camouflaged way of raising prices, but Unisys Corp is offering a new Surety support and maintenance service in the US, for the first time covering hardware and software in a single contract. There are four levels of service – Intro, for telephone help, through Basic, BasicPlus to Comprehensive with full on-site support. The pricing for each level is based on the type and number of systems, the configuration, and the attached peripherals. The new service contracts are initially only for the U Series Unix boxes but will be expanded to other product lines next quarter.
