Motorola Inc’s Huntsville, Alabama-based UDS Motorola has acquired a minority interest in XcelleNet Inc of Atlanta – it will buy 12% of the equity in the form of preferred stock and can buy up to 8% more at a later date: UDS offers the GlobalView graphics-based, wide area network access system that enables a network manager to control a network’s data communications equipment centrally, providing a Microsoft Windows-based console from which the network manager monitors, controls and configures central-site and remote modems, multiplexors, digital interfaces, ISDN terminal adaptors and related hardware and XcelleNet has products called X/RAM System and AppliComms, communicating applications that enable widely distributed enterprises to configure and manage their own automated information delivery systems using dial-up communications.
