High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire-based Tricom Group Ltd is after a slice of Sonix Communication Ltd’s market with the launch of its LANDial 400 series of Integrated Services Digital Network offerings, which will be sold exclusively through the company’s indirect channels. The new range, which adds to the family of ISDN offerings revealed by Tricom last October, will comprise an internal ISDN Basic Rate Interface personal computer board, a personal computer to local network and local area to local area network ISDN Basic Rate Interface bridge-router, and an ISDN Primary Rate Interface bridge-router. First up is the LANDial 410, an AT bus personal computer board. According to the company, the adaptor is compatible with Windows and NetWare, as well as TCP/IP-based applications. It is available in two versions – with and without data compression. With the compression hardware, Tricom says that average file transfer rates of up to 512Kbps are achieved on the two ISDN B-channels. Other features include on-demand dialling, authentication and call-back security, and the inclusion of Open Data Link Interface and Network Driver Interface Specication drivers. The LANDial 430 and 450 are respectively single and multi-user ISDN Basic Rate Interface-to-Ethernet access units. The former is said to provide individual remote access to a central-site local area network, while the latter offers remote offices and workgroups the same capability. According to the company, both are compatible with any Ethernet interface and provide remote access to all applications and data resident on a central-site network. Each is also said to come with data compression as standard. Finally, the LANDial 470 is a high-capacity dial-in Ethernet access server. Tricom says that the unit is compatible with standards-based ISDN Primary Rate Interface and Ethernet local area networks and can be managed by a common Simple Network Management Protocol station. The company also notes that the offering is compatible with Connection Management software for centralised administration and call logging, and is software-upgradable. The LANDial 400 family is shipping this month. The 410 will list for ú750, with the 430 coming in for ú1,300, and the 450 for ú2,200; the 470 will be priced at around ú6,500.
