Teradici has released PCoIP Firmware 3.0, which enables the interoperability of PCoIP hardware zero clients with VMware View 4.

The company claims that the PCoIP hardware zero clients provides benefits including, low operational cost, high security, and future-proof desktop scalability for IT organisations in healthcare, education, government and other market sectors.

According to Teradici, the desktop clients based on the TERA1100 PCoIP processor are a zero client offering that support any user type from task workers to mainstream office workers, to workstation/visualisation application users. PCoIP hardware zero clients can be connected to VMware View 4 virtual desktops over standard IP networks including local area networks or long distance wide area networks.

The company said that the benefits of hardware zero clients include future-proof desktop scalability; support for graphics or media codecs at up to full display rates; and host configurations including dedicated remote workstations or virtual desktops for desktop performance;

In addition, the new offering provides lower client operational cost; eliminate patches due to no application O/S and no drivers on the client; no moving parts; USB device authorisation and no local storage, the company added.
