Teo, a telecommunications company, has revealed that it will introduce a new Microsoft-based Unified Communications (UC) platform.
Through a partnership with AltiGen Communications, a provider of VoIP telephone systems, Teo is expected to integrate its line of telecommunications products with Microsoft Exchange, providing organisations with government-grade unified communications capabilities. The platform is currently in beta testing and will be available in late 2009.
According to the company, the system’s interface allows administrators to integrate controls to a single screen and eliminates the need for additional IT specialists and technicians. From an end-user view, the entire system is accessible and customisable from Microsoft Outlook, and the enhanced mobility functionality allows workers to attain on-premise communications capabilities while working remotely.
The system includes a software development kit (SDK) that is expected to allow developers to design custom applications that enhance functionality without adding additional external hardware.
The company said that it will provide the phones, servers, gateways and system integration, as well as marketing and sales support for the new system. The integrated communications platform, which consolidates voice, voicemail, email, messaging, audio conferencing, fax, speech recognition and mobile integration into a single integrated system, will be compatible with all varieties of the company’s IP phones, Teo noted.
The open-architected system could be added to an organisation’s existing data network. In addition, Teo’s integrated system is expected to improve productivity, allowing users to manage and consolidate all communications through one channel and to stay connected from anywhere. The platform also includes an audio conferencing built-in feature.
In addition to the new Unified Communications platform, the company’s product suite includes a series of ISDN and VoIP telephones, NT1 ISDN Network Terminations, ISDN Centrex Attendant Consoles and Enhanced 9-1-1 (E911) Emergency Awareness offerings.
