Cooper was instrumental in Sun’s decision in 2002 to allow open source implementations of Java and also worked on OpenSolaris, launched earlier this year. In her blog, Cooper said she was off to see if she could have any influence at Intel.

Commenting on OpenSolaris, Sun’s high-profile release of Solaris APIs to the community under three licenses, Cooper is reported to have said OpenSolaris would be more interesting than the open source community thinks. Cooper will work at Intel’s channel products business group.
