Campbell, California-based Studio Magic Corp has announced Studio Magic Director, a Windows-based add-in board for video editing. It enables users display VGA output on any television screen, and can capture full-size colour video images and store them on disk for use in multimedia presentations or desktop publishing. The company says the hardware and software is designed to work with the most basic VCRs and camcorders, yet will take advantage of advanced tape transport controls. With Director’s built-in device control, users can control any two devices using infra-red, Control L or Control M protocols in any combination, with no hidden additional accessories required. It costs $200.
