Stratus Computer Inc has sold the rights to a banking software package that was being developed for its XA2000 computers. The software has gone to Norcross, Georgia-based Stockholder Systems Inc, now a subsidiary of Nynex Corp. Terms have not been disclosed, but Stockholder has acquired marketing rights along with all future research and development on the Financial Exchange software, designed to automate interbank funds transfer. The application was developed by an unnamed software house in Omaha, Nebraska, and Electronic News says that at one point, Stratus considered marketing it but eventually plumped for the deal with Stockholder Systems. This is the first time that Stockholder has ventured out of the IBM-compatible arena, and it says that it may convert the software for non-Stratus hardware eventually.
