Lincolnshire, Illinois-based SoftNet Systems Inc is going on a spending spree, agreeing to pay $14m – $5.25m in shares, $2.8m in convertible notes, $1.05 in cash, and assumption of debt – for Micrographic Technology Corp. Mountain View-based Micrographic develops, manufactures and markets sofware and hardware designed to provide high volume information indexing and retrieval capabilities using computer output microfilm, CD-ROM and optical storage technologies. The company did $155,000 on sales of $16.9m for the year to June 30 last. And it is buying Lenexa, Kansas-based Kansas Communications Inc, which provides business telecommunications products and services and reported earnings of $441,000 on revenue of $8m for the year to March 1994, paying between 1.3m and 1.4m in new shares. SoftNet does imaging and telecommunications-based products and services.
