Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG has let it be known that it plans to be one of the major players in the Russian personal computer and server markets – and that it has the resources to make this happen. Last month the company announced its strategy for developing its server business in Russia. The systems business at Siemens Nixdorf, already active in Russia, has been supplemented with a midrange team, responsible for developing a business through local partners. The team now has a million Deutsche Mark budget to help grow the businesses of those Russian distributors and integrators willing to commit to selling Siemens Nixdorf products. There will be no demands for minimum purchases but a scale of co-operation depending on how c ommitted a partner is to selling Siemens Nixdorf products, says Otto Neuer International Indirect Sales Director at Siemens. Commitment means the degree to which a company is orientated towards selling Siemens Nixdorf hardware and its willingness to promote Siemens Nixdorf in Russia.
