ShoreTel, a provider of IP phone systems with fully integrated unified communications (UC), has introduced new UC software – ShoreTel 12.

Through a single hardware appliance and distributed software architecture, ShoreTel 12 provides a full-featured collaborative UC offering with plug-and-play set-up and simplified management capabilities to streamline and enhance business communications for companies of all sizes, said the company.

The new UC offering provides end-users easy access to new collaborative and productivity-enhancing features including: High Definition (HD) audio conferencing, zero-download desktop sharing, XMPP-based Instant Messaging, presence, Microsoft Outlook scheduling and multimedia recording.

In addition, ShoreTel 12 features: collaboration tools for every employee; support for large enterprises; Microsoft Outlook 2010 integration; Microsoft Exchange 2010 integration; and support for mobile users.

ShoreTel chief marketing officer Kevin Gavin said the new offering simplifies UC deployment and management while preserving the reliability, security and flexibility businesses have come to expect from ShoreTel.

"With ShoreTel 12, organisations can expect a significant productivity boost as end users leverage a feature set that facilitates collaboration for any business task on any device, anywhere, anytime," Gavin said.

ShoreTel 12 is available for new customer orders and will ship before the end of the second quarter.
