ITL Group Plc – and soon to be Apricot Computers Plc – software partner Sequoia Systems Inc, Marlborough, Massachusetts is claiming industry leadership in the transaction processing stakes for its Series 300 multiprocessor system on the basis of the Debit/Credit benchmark: Sequoia says that in a 12-processor configuration, the Series 300 achieved 251 transactions per second based upon 20.9 transactions per second per processor; in a six-processor benchmark, the Series 300 achieved 125 tps; on price-performance, where leadership is also claimed, the machine achieved $9,250 per transaction per second on initial hardware pricing, and $14,455 for full 5-year cost of ownership, including maintenance.
