The fading of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co-controlled Solbourne Computer Inc seems to be gathering pace, and following its announcement in May that it had discontinued the design, manufacturing, and marketing of its Sparc-based servers, it now says it does not intend to form a relationship with any third party to develop future Solbourne products, is not pursuing the Solaris operating system development it had started, and does not plan to market hardware upgrades or new version of its products. It is now concentrating on reselling Oracle Corp’s Oracle Financials applications on servers supplied by Sun Microsystems Computer Co under an authorised reseller agreement; Grum-man Systems Support Corp, Bohemia, New York provides service and support to Solbourne’s installed base.
