Comapagnie des Machines Bull SA in Moscow reports that it has now rolled out one regional element in its huge $50m contract with the Russian Federal Tax Police (CI No 2,871). Last month it announced that the Federal Tax Police in the Northern and North West regions of Russia now have an operational network enabling them to share information across the region. This network marks the first stage in a project to link all of the Federal Tax Police organizations in the Russian Federation. The project is called ISINPOL – The Information System of the Federal Tax Police Organizations. Bull is supplying the hardware and system software for this project, and funding is partly from an inter- governmental loan from France to Russia. This is the first of eight planned regional networks. The participants in the Northern and North West regions of Russia comprises the Republics of Karelya and Komi, the Arkhangelskaya, Vologodskaya, Kaliningradskaya, Leningradskaya, Murmanskaya, Pskovskaya and Novgorodskaya regions, as well as the Yamalo-Nenetsky autonomous district.
