Word is that although HaL Computer Systems Inc, now a wholly-owned subsidiary after Fujitsu Ltd reportedly paying a whopping more than $50m for the 56% it did not already own, is at least 18 months late in getting its 64-bit Sparc machines to market, the 64-bit chip it was designing as the basis of its machines does now work in some fashion; the company still employs some 200 people and it told Newsbytes last week to expect Hal to announce products in the near future adding that they consist of a family of high performance systems – both hardware and software.
