Richter Paradigm Corp, the mysterious Australian parallel processing company that popped out of the blue last year (CI No 3,059), has won its first big-name backing in the shape of Compaq Computer Corp’s Tandem Computers Inc. The two companies have agreed to promote the use of each other’s products under the Tandem Alliance program. Richter Paradigm is to ensure that its products remain compatible with Tandem’s while taking steps to license its products to Tandem customers, system integrators and other Alliance members. Further to the agreement Richter Paradigm has also signed an evaluation agreement with an as yet unnamed Tandem Alliance member to tie its Neuronetics Technology to ‘an expert systems development tool’, while it reports that future activities may focus entirely on new product developments exploiting Richter Paradigm parent company Formulab Neuronetics Corp’s parallel processing hardware. Formulab was recently listed on the Nasdaq SmallCap market with a view to broadening the company’s international position. The Richter Paradigm Computer is a non-von Neumann architecture massively parallel neural computer using off the shelf components, but the company also has a visual symbolic programming language for the system.
