Huntsville, Alabama-based Rastek Corp has set up a pan-Pacific alliance with Yamaha LSI, the Systems Technology Division of Yamaha Corp to collaborate on development of high performance semiconductors for use in laser printer controllers and other raster image processing products – by solving the problem of controller bottlenecks in high performance printing devices such as laser printers, these ASICs will provide increased performance in a cost-effective alternative to current hardware architectures, Rastek says; Rastek will provide the architectual designs while Yamaha will engineer, design and make the chips, which will bear a Rastek-Yamaha insignia and will be marketed and supported by both companies.
