Radius Inc is to have exclusive rights to develop and market Apple Macintosh-based hardware acceleration and print server products for FITS Imaging Inc’s Live Picture software. Live Picture is based on Functional Interpolating Transformational System technology and brings workstation-level image editing and compositing to the Macintosh. The sharing of key hardware and software technologies is aimed at positioning both companies in a strong position in the emerging mixed-media digital publishing markets. The agreement calls for Radius to develop products to accelerate time-critical portions of Live Picture, including RIPing, FITS raster image processing, to hard copy output and on-screen manipulation of images. Radius will distribute FITS Imaging products via its worldwide network of computer distributors and resellers. Additionally, Radius will leverage its leadership and channel expertise in the graphics hardware and colour publishing markets to increase awareness for the Live Picture software. At the heart of Live Picture is FITS technology, which represents all image editing effects in a resolution-independent format. Images remain fully scalable and editable at all stages of the creation process and can be quickly viewed and manipulated. The FITS raster imaging process is then used to render the composite image either to the screen, to a printer, or to a file.
