RadiSys, a provider of application-ready software and hardware platforms, has rolled out its second-generation Procelerant RMS420-5520DT, an embedded server platform with the new Intel Xeon processor 5600 series.
The company said that it will offer the RMS420-5520DT with the quad-core Intel Xeon processor E5620 at 2.4GHz and six-core Intel Xeon processor E5645 at 2.4GHz. It combines high memory bandwidth, I/O capability and multi-core processors for performance increases and energy efficiency for applications such as medical imaging, video streaming and test and measurement.
RadiSys said that the Procelerant RMS420-5520DT is designed for parallel processing, incorporating multi-core Intel Xeon processors, and offering support for high-performance graphics cards and/or additional co-processors.
According to RadiSys, the new version features single or dual, quad-core or six-core processors from the Intel Xeon processor E5600 series with integrated DDR3 memory controllers and dual Intel E5520 chipsets, which provide 72 lanes of PCI Express 2.0 connectivity.
In addition, the RMS420-5520DT can be equipped with power supplies up to 1200W and cooling to support up to three, 225W co-processor cards and additional I/O. A variety of server configurations are available including up to six 3.5-inch or ten 2.5-inch SATA or SAS hard disk drives.
Michael Reunert, product line manager of RadiSys, said: “Our embedded servers provide the industry-leading compute power that our customers’ high-performance applications require, and with the addition of Intel Xeon processor 5600 series to the Procelerant RMS420-5520DT, we are able to deliver to our customers the latest Intel processing technology in conjunction with its market entry.
“By offering a scalable embedded solution, we enable our customers to hit their price and performance targets, in addition to freeing up engineering resources for developing value-add applications.”
Production shipments of the RMS420-5520DT with Intel Xeon 5600 series processors are planned to begin in the second quarter of 2010.
