Polyphase Corp, a Dallas-based diversified holding company that owns companies serving the computer hardware and software, electronics, forestry and automotive accessory markets, has acquired Micro Configuration Corp, of Brooklyn, New York for 60,000 shares of Polyphase Series A-2 preferred stock, convertible to 120,000 shares of common stock. This brings to five the number of computer companies Polyphase has bought in the last two years, and it expects group turnover of $65m for fiscal year 1995. Of the four other computer companies, three sell, install and service name-brand computer hardware and design local and wide-area networks: Computer System Concepts, Network America Inc and PC Repair of Florida Inc. The fourth acquisition, Register-Mate, provides an eponymous point-of-sale software system with inventory management, bar code scanning and credit card processing for small and medium sized retailers. Register-Mate is at the core of the Polyphase’s future development, and future acquisitions are planned that will enhance this.
