Twenty start-ups will compete for the final prize of Plug and Play (PnP) Tech Centre IoT acceleration program on June 25.

The companies will travel to Silicon Valley, to pitch to an audience of corporate executives, venture capitalists, angel investors, and media at PnP IoT Expo summer 2015, according to the company.

PnP IoT selected start-ups into the accelerator that were focused on the insurance, industrial, healthcare, and automotive sectors.

The early-stage start-ups selected for the second batch of the program developed solutions ranging from connected devices and wearables to smart sensors, robotics, and augmented reality.

Judges attending the event will include PnP IoT’s corporate partners in addition to the program’s VC partners Norwest, Fenox, and Javelin.

Candace Widdoes, VP of Strategic Partnerships at PnP said: "The IoT space is exploding and heavily influencing many different industries – that’s why we’re so excited to unveil Plug and Play’s Internet of Things Start-ups, concluding the three month accelerator program.

Mark Pacelle, SD of Open Innovation for Philips said: "Fuelled by its pervasive deployment and embedded data acquisition capabilities, the connected lighting infrastructure is becoming a leading IoT application platform for a broad range of start-ups serving the home, professional indoor and urban spaces."
