Smartwatch maker Pebble has unveiled an IoT smartwatch device with a round face set to compete with Apple’s iWatch and Samsung’s Gear S2.

The Pebble Time Round is 7.5mm thin and weights 28 grams, which the company claims to be the world’s thinnest and lightest smartwatch.

The product was unveiled by CEO Eric Migicovsky who said the watch will be put on the market with a starting price of $249.

He said: "Retail availability in the UK will begin later this year, followed by EU retailers in early 2016."

In April, Apple unveiled the iWatch, priced from $349 for the sports edition up to $17,000 in the Watch Edition.

On October 2, Samsung will be start selling its Gear S2 smartwatch solution in Europe and the US. The Gear S2 will be market at $350 and the Gear S2 Classic and Gear S2 3G will cost $400.
