Otley, West Yorkshire-based Orion Network Communications Ltd has a new software module that enables text and stored graphics to be sent to facsimile machines from local and remote terminals attached to IBM System 36, System 38 or AS/400 machines: the facsimile interface is integrated with Orionet, providing access to electronic mail and telex messaging, and it can be added to existing installations via an application program interface, or operated as a stand-alone product; graphics are scanned into a hardware interface unit and merged into the text of a message; up to seven facsimile devices may be attached to a single twin-axial unit, eliminating the need for communications ports on the computer.
