The goal is to offer users out-of-the-box integration of RFID hardware and software with enterprise technologies, said Redwood Shores, California-based Oracle.
New features Oracle has added to its RFID server include management capabilities for RFID tag readers, antennas and printers, and improved real-time event management.
Oracle also said the latest Edge server has significantly enhanced user management tools, such as a task-oriented user interface and enabling users to see the status of an item in an RFID or sensor network through various report templates.
When used with Oracle’s Fusion Middleware, the new Edge Server also provides RFID business process management and workflow through the Oracle Enterprise Service Bus and BPEL Process Manager. Of course, Oracle’s other business applications also dovetail into the system.
